LINC, Inc. Hosts Annual Milestones Event with Keynote Speaker Renowned Climate Justice Leader and Activist William J. Barber III
LINC, Inc. will host its annual Milestones Fundraising Dinner on Monday, February 16, at Lumina on Wrightsville Beach, bringing together community leaders, advocates, and supporters for an evening dedicated to equity, opportunity, and transformational impact. The evening will feature a keynote address by William J. Barber III, a nationally recognized leader in environmental and climate justice.
The Milestones Dinner is LINC, Inc.’s signature fundraising event, supporting the organization’s mission to advance educational, economic, and leadership opportunities for justice-involved individuals and to empower youth through mentorship and academic support. The Milestones program will include updates on LINC’s new Hisan J. Polk Transformation Academy.

Barber currently serves as Founder and CEO of Rural Beacon Initiative, a social enterprise focused on operationalizing equity frameworks within sustainable solutions and expanding Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) ownership across regenerative agriculture and renewable energy supply chains. His work has been recognized nationally, including honors from NextGen’s 30 Under 30 Young Black Changemakers and PayPal’s Rising Leaders Series. Rural Beacon Initiative was also named one of North Carolina’s leading Black STEM organizations by Governor Roy Cooper. With more than a decade of experience in environmental and climate justice advocacy, Barber has worked at the intersection of policy, grassroots organizing, faith communities, and corporate partnerships to advance equitable solutions for communities disproportionately impacted by climate change.
“William J. Barber III brings a powerful and timely perspective on the impact of legacy on activism, leadership, and community-driven solutions,” said Brenda Roberts-Fong, Board Chair of LINC, Inc. “His work aligns deeply with LINC’s mission, the Polk Academy Legacy Builders Campaign, and the values we seek to uplift through the Milestones Dinner.”
The evening will include dinner, HJP Academy campaign and project highlights, and opportunities for attendees to support LINC, Inc.’s ongoing initiatives through sponsorships and contributions.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available, with advance reservations encouraged.
