Healthy Opportunities Pilot (HOP) at LINC, Inc.is facing a budget crisis!

Currently, HOP is not in theHouse or Senate FY 2025-2027 budget.

We urgently need your voice to help secure renewed funding for HOP.

We must continue to advocate for maintaining Medicaid eligibility for services that address key social determinants of health in New Hanover County and surrounding counties. Evidence-based, Medicaid-funded interventions—such as those supporting housing, nutrition, and safety for high-needs individuals—play a vital role in improving health outcomes, reducing overall healthcare costs, strengthening local infrastructure, supporting economic growth, and promoting greater independence within our communities.

HOP at LINC, Inc. provides our community with these interventions.

• In FY 2023-24, 839 cases were referred to the Cape Fear HOP at LINC
• 682 cases opened where provided with housing and shelter (some clients received multiple services)
• 219 clients were assisted with utilities payments
• 11 clients received food case management assistance

HOP is a proven way to address rising health care costs because the most effective way to lower health care costs is to reduce demand.

That makes Healthy Opportunities a high priority for all of North Carolina.

Here’s what you can do!

1. Be informed about HOP at LINC
2. Review the HOP Fact Sheet
3. Read more (find the advocacy email template on page 24): NCDHHS Healthy Opportunities Pilots
4. Contact your legislators

We deeply appreciate your support. Together, we can advocate for individuals in need, save HOP, and create a healthier Cape Fear for everyone.
