Frankie Roberts will be recognized at 12:40 pm at the Minority Enterprise Development Week (MED Week) luncheon, immediately preceding keynote speaker, Brigadier General J. R. Gorham, U.S. Army, (Ret.). Minority Enterprise Development Week conference will be held on Friday, October 4 at UNCW’s Burney Center.

Beginning with a Presidential proclamation in 1983, MED Week has celebrated the contributions of minority and women owned businesses to the American economy and to encourage the development of minority businesses across the country.  To that end the Cape Fear Region MED Week planning committee created an opportunity to recognize the “Spotlight“ companies of the year.  Selection for this recognition is based on having experienced a heightened period of business successes during the past year or having sustained business excellence,  demonstrating excellence in business standards and ethics, while possessing the ability to bridge strategic partnerships.

A little about MED Week:

In December 2015, the inaugural Cape Fear Region Minority Enterprise Development Week was held at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Its purpose was to convene business leaders and business development advocates, promote business opportunities, report industry trends and recognize outstanding minority business firms in the region.

The event features educational workshops, networking opportunities and a recognition luncheon that celebrates the achievements of minority entrepreneurs and affirms the community’s commitment to the principle of equal opportunity in a diverse marketplace.

Cape Fear Region MED Week is a part of the National MED Week, which was created by presidential proclamation in 1983. Led by the Minority Business Development Agency, National MED Week recognizes the contributions of minority businesses to the nation’s economy and honors corporations and financial institutions that support minority business development.
